Criteria
The award recognizes faculty members who engage outside the university in activities or programs that extend the impact of teaching and/or research into our communities. Demonstration of significant and longstanding achievement of positive community impact may include: raising the public awareness of engineering as a profession; providing training to the public in skill areas that are predominantly engineering, such as design and creative problem solving; promoting accurate and positive perceptions of engineering careers and their importance, especially as they relate to creating and maintaining diversity in the profession and/or partnering to help solve societal problems.
Nominations
Nominations should be in the form of a letter (two pages or less) submitted by the department chair of the applicant’s home department.
Reminder: The nomination letter must be two pages or less and be on college or department letterhead. Include a proposed citation (25 words or less) at the bottom of the nomination letter. The committee may disqualify nominations that do not meet this requirement.
Selection Committee
The College of Engineering Faculty Awards Committee will evaluate nominations and make a recommendation to the Dean of the College of Engineering, who selects the award recipient.
